I have worked in and around estate agents since 1997, initially as an Independent Financial Adviser then latterly, once I realised that estate agents seem to have more fun, as an estate agent. I love what I do. I love the small tight-knit team that we are, and I love the fact that Joe and Claire pretty much give me free rein to get on with my day and achieve results for our vendors and buyers. Every day is an adventure. Of course, there are ups and downs, usually as a result of a hiccup in a chain but if we have a problem we sit down over a cup of tea (and hopefully a bacon sandwich) and talk it through. Between the three of us there is nothing that cannot be resolved.
Outside of work I have been married to Nicky, a dog treat entrepreneur and private chef, for two years and we live with our three dogs in the neighbouring village. I have three grown-up kids who keep me busy and entertained and on top of that I am a retained firefighter which keeps me active, involves me with the local community and gives me a physical challenge.
Nothing beats personal service and I believe this to my core; it is about going the extra mile and exceeding people’s expectations. Just as important, and often forgotten, it is about doing what you said you would do – give feedback, return phone calls (even the awkward ones) and turn up on time with a smile on your face.
Selling and buying houses is a highly emotional business. It is not about bricks and mortar but people’s lives, their hopes and dreams. We help people move on to their next chapter and leave the home where memories have been created. For buyers, they have fallen in love with a house and are keen to move into their new home and make it their own. At Chatterton Estate Agents we never forget this, from the initial meeting to the successful completion, we create, build and nurture a relationship with our vendors and buyers. This is an integral part of what we do, everything else that we do revolves around this core value.
